Express Entry

Operating within the framework of the federal Express Entry pool, this stream is designed to identify potential candidates and extend invitations for provincial nomination.

The foreign national cannot apply to this program directly as it is by invitation only given automatically through the Express Entry profile.

Program Eligibility:

Requirement

Express Entry Profile –         Have their primary occupation in their Federal Express Entry Profile is an occupation in demand or is identified is an occupation connected to the province activity, sector or occupational priority.

 

–         Have a minimum comprehensive ranking system score of 300.

 

–         Have their primary occupation not on the  Alberta Opportunity Stream Ineligible Occupations list

 

–         Have an active Express Entry profile in either:

 

o   Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)

 

–         Have a high school diploma, at minimum.

 

–         Have at least 1 year of continuous full-time, skilled work experience, obtained in a position at National Occupations Classification (NOC) TEER Skill categories 0,1,2 or 3 (previously NOC Level 0, A or B), obtained within the last 10 Years in Canada or overseas.

 

–         Demonstrate language proficiency in English or French with Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Level 7.

 

o   Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

–         Not have minimum education requirement.

 

–         Have at least 1 year of full-time skilled work experience in Canada.

 

–         Have their work experience be within the 3 years before application, and it does not need to be continuous, obtained within 3 years prior to application, obtained in a position at National Occupations Classification (NOC) TEER Skill Category 0,1,2 or 3 (Previously NOC Level 0, A or B).

 

–         Demonstrate language proficiency in English or French with Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Level 7 for work experience obtained at NOC TEER Skill 0 or 1 (Previously NOC Level 0 or A).

 

–         Demonstrate language proficiency in English or French with Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Level 5 for work experience obtained at NOC TEER Skill 2 or 3 (Previously Level B).

 

o   Federal Skilled Trades (FST)

 

–         Not have minimum education requirement.

 

–         Have at least 2 years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade occupation with in the last 5 years.

 

–         Have either an offer of an employment to work in a skill trade in Canada or a certification of qualification in their skill trade issued by a Canadian authority.

 

–         Demonstrate language proficiency in English or French with Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Level 5 for speaking and listening, (CLB) Level 4 for reading and writing.

Job Offer –         Need not require any job offer to apply under this stream.
Level of Education –         Have their education as per the Express Entry requirements.
Work Experience –         Meet their work experience as per the Express Entry requirements.
Language Proficiency –         Demonstrate language proficiency as per the Express Entry requirements.
Connection to Alberta –         Need not to prove any specific connection to the Alberta.

–         However, intend to and be able to live & work permanently in Alberta.

Application Procedure

  • Invitation-Based System: Candidates are invited to apply; no automatic invitations.
  • Create an Express Entry Profile: Eligible candidates provide their information and qualifications.
  • Notification of Interest (NOI): Alberta reviews profiles and issues NOIs to selected candidates.
  • No Guarantee: Meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee an invitation.
  • Approval and Notification: Alberta notifies approved applicants through their IRCC online account.
  • ITA and Permanent Residence: Applicants with an ITA prepare and submit an official permanent residence application.
