This stream is designed to cater to foreign workers who are presently residing and engaged in employment within Alberta and possess a job offer in Alberta.

Express Entry Profile | – Need not required to registered for Express Entry Program to apply under this stream. |
Job Offer | – Have a bona-fide continuous, full-time, paid job offer or employment contract for at least 12 months from their current Alberta employer in the candidate’s current occupation.
– Be employed in Alberta in a profession connected to their field of study, in case they are Post Graduate Work Permit holder. – Meet the provincial minimum wage for their work for an eligible AAIP occupation. – Must not have their occupation in these two lists of In-eligible Occupations:

Level of Education | – Have completed minimum of high school diploma or equivalent (all candidates except PGWP holders). |
Work Experience | – Meet one of the three below mentioned cases for work experience.
a) Have a minimum of 12 months, full-time experience in Alberta in their current occupation within the last 18 months, or b) A Minimum 24 Months, full-time experience in their current occupations, acquired in Canada or overseas, in the last 30 months. c) Have at least 6 months of full-time experience in Alberta in their current occupation with in the last 18 months (in case of Post-Graduate Work Permit – PGWP holders and have their occupation related to their Alberta education). – Have the appropriate regulation, licensure, or status in Canada to carry out their occupation. |
Language Proficiency | – For NOC TEER Skill Levels 0,1,2 or 3 (Previously NOC 0, A, or B) – CLB 5
– For NOC TEER Skill Levels 4 or 5 (Previously C or D) – CLB 4 – For NOC TEER Code 33102 – Nurse Aides, Orderlies, and Patient service associates – CLB 7 |
Connection to Alberta | – Be residing in Alberta, and hold employment in Alberta.
– Have a valid work permit for an eligible occupation. – Not to have their work permit on implied status or restoration status. – Have their work permit obtained through either of Labour Market Impact Analysis (LMIA) / LMIA Exemption / Post-Graduation Work Permit – PGWP Holder. |
Application Procedure
- Always Open: The Alberta Opportunity Stream accepts applications at any time, following a first-come, first-served approach.
- Provincial Nomination: Successful applicants will be notified of their provincial nomination and receive an official package by mail.
- Federal Application: After nomination, applicants have six months to submit a paper-based application for Canadian permanent residence.
