This stream holds the objective of attracting farming entrepreneurs and operators who aspire to establish and manage their own farms within the Alberta region. This stream is a collaborative effort between AINP and Alberta Agriculture and Forestry (AAF).

Express Entry Profile | – Need not require Express Entry to apply for this stream |
Job Offer | – Need not require any job offer to apply for this stream. |
Education | – Need not require any specific level of education to apply under this stream. However, education, training or work experience in the farm management is taken into consideration. |
Work Experience | – Demonstrate their farm management abilities, proving that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively run a farm in Alberta. |
Language Proficiency | – Need not require any specific language proficiency requirement. |
Connection to Province | – Need not require to prove any specific connection to the Alberta. |
Personal Net Worth Requirement | – Demonstrate a minimum net worth of at least $500,000 CAD. |
Investment Requirement | – Invest a minimum of $500,000 CAD in equity to the primary production farming business.
– May get preference for expansion in relation to the Agro-Food requirement. |
Business Plan | – Submit a comprehensive business plan outlining their proposed farm in Alberta.
– Have their business plan to include an attestation of financial commitment from a Canadian financial institution. |
Application Procedure
- Contact AAF and AINP
- Reach out to Alberta Agriculture and Forestry (AAF) and Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) for guidance.
- AAF Evaluation
- AAF assesses your eligibility for Alberta’s agriculture sector.
- Exploratory Visit
- Visit Alberta to understand the farming environment.
- Paper Application
- Submit a comprehensive paper application to AAF with required documents.
- Additional Review
- AINP checks the application for eligibility.
- Provincial Nomination and Residency
- If approved, you get a provincial nomination, followed by a federal permanent residency application.
