The NTNP Express Entry for individuals who fulfill all prerequisites of the NTNP Skilled Worker stream and meet the criteria for one of three federal economic programs.

Express Entry Profile | Applicants must be enrolled in the federal Express Entry pool.
They must qualify for at least one of the three federal economic programs: – Federal Skilled Worker (FSW): Candidate must: o Have a high school diploma, at minimum o Have at least 1 year of continuous full-time, skilled work experience, obtained in a position at National Occupations Classification (NOC) Skill Level 0, A or B. o Demonstrate language proficiency in English or French with Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Level 7.
– Canadian Experience Class (CEC): Candidate must: o Not have minimum education requirement. o Have at least 1 year of full-time skilled work experience in Canada. o Have their work experience be within the 3 years before application, and it does not need to be continuous, obtained within 3 years prior to application, obtained in a position at National Occupations Classification (NOC) Skill Level 0, A or B. o Demonstrate language proficiency in English or French with Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Level 7 for work experience obtained at NOC Skill Level 0 or A. o Demonstrate language proficiency in English or French with Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Level 5 for work experience obtained at NOC Skill Level B. – Federal Skilled Trades (FST): Candidate must: o Not have minimum education requirement. o Have at least 2 years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade occupation o Have either an offer of an employment to work in a skill trade in Canada or a certification of qualification in their skill trade issued by a Canadian authority. o Demonstrate language proficiency in English or French with Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Level 5 for speaking and listening, (CLB) Level 4 for reading and writing. |
Job Offer | – Have a full-time job offer from an eligible employer based in the Northwest Territories.
– The offered position must align with the TEER 0,1,2 or 3 (Previously National Occupation Classification (NOC) Skill Levels 0, A, or B). |
Level of Education | – Have sufficient education or certification or accreditation of the specific trade, occupation and TEER 0,1,2 or 3 NOC Code employment requirements. |
Work Experience | – Have a minimum of 1 Year full-time work experience in the same occupation as the job offer.
– Have their experience within the last 10 Years. |
Language Proficiency | – Demonstrate language proficiency in English or French the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 in all 4 language abilities, for position classified in NOC TEER 0 and 1 (Previously NOC Skill Level 0 and A).
– Demonstrate proficiency in all four language skills at CLB level 5 in all 4 language abilities, within NOC TEER 2 and 3 occupations. |
Connection to Province | – Have work experience in the Northwest Territories (Candidates living overseas may be accepted under exceptional circumstances).
Have legal status to work in Canada. |
Employer / Business Requirement | · Job Offer Requirements: The Employer must:
– Offer a full-time (minimum 30 hours per week), permanent job that should not be in conflict with the Northwest Territories Employment Standards Act or any collective bargaining agreements. · Business Requirements: Employers must: – Be a registered and operational Northwest Territories business for a minimum of 1 year on a full time basis, or – A municipal, First Nations Territorial Govt. of the Northwest Territories. – Have maintained good standing with both the Employment Standards office and the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission of the Northwest Territories. · Recruitment Requirement: Employers must: – Submit a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), or – Submit proof of local and national job advertising, and provide a comprehensive list of all applicants and a detailed rationale for rejecting each application their results, when nominating candidate without an LMIA with an open work permit. – Provide a comparable industry wage based on ESDC’s job bank median wage. |
Settlement Fund Requirement | – Demonstrate they have sufficient funds to settle in NT, is demonstrated from the valid job offer and industry pay rate. |
Application Procedure
- Accepts applications year-round with no specific deadline.
- Candidates meeting minimum requirements create an Express Entry profile.
- Requires a valid job offer in the Northwest Territories with supporting documentation.
- Successful applicants receive a provincial nomination.
- Nomination boosts CRS score by 600 points.
- Receive an ITA and submit a permanent residence application, typically processed in around six months.
