This stream is designed to attract and nominate trained physicians who are actively listed in the Federal Express Entry pool.

Express Entry Profile | – Have a valid express entry profile number
– Have stated in their Express Entry profile that they are interested to move to Nova Scotia. – Federal Skilled Worker (FSW): Candidate must:
o Have a high school diploma, at minimum
o Have at least 1 year of continuous full-time, skilled work experience.
– Canadian Experience Class (CEC): Candidate must:
o Not have minimum education requirement.
o Have at least 1 year of full-time skilled work experience in Canada.
o Have their work experience be within the 3 years before application, and it does not need to be continuous.
– Federal Skilled Trades (FST): Candidate must:
o Not have minimum education requirement.
o Have at least 2 years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade occupation |
Job Offer | – Have a job offer from either the IWK Health Centre or the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA)
o National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes 31100 (specialists in clinical and laboratory medicine o National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes 31101 (specialists in surgery o National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes 31102 (general practitioner and family physicians). |
Level of Education | – Have a valid Educational Credential Assessment from the Medical Council of Canada, or
– Have a proof that they meet the required criteria to obtain a license to practice medicine in Nova Scotia from the College of Physician and Surgeons of Nova Scotia. |
Work Experience | – Meet the work experience requirements for the Federal Express Entry Stream for which they have qualified. |
Language Proficiency | – Have proof that they are able to practice medicine either English or French. |
Connection to Province | – Need not require any specific connection to the province.
– Promise to live and work in Nova Scotia for at least 2 years. – Have proof of immigration status in the country where they are currently living, including Canada. |
Application Procedure

- The Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities stream operates on an invitation-only basis.

- Candidates must create an Express Entry profile and wait for Nova Scotia to issue a Letter of Interest (LOI) to their IRCC account.

- After receiving a LOI, candidates must prepare and submit an application to Nova Scotia.

- If the application is accepted, Nova Scotia will notify the candidate of their selection for provincial nomination, increasing their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score by 600 points.

- Candidates must prepare and submit an official application for Canadian permanent residence within the specified time frame after receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
