In-Demand Skills

This particular stream is designed for foreign nationals who hold work experience in occupations that are in high demand within Ontario and have gained this experience within the province.

The foreign workers in an in-demand occupation in specific sectors such as agriculture, construction, trucking or personal support work with a job offer in Ontario may apply under this stream.

Express Entry Profile Need not required to be registered under the Federal Express Entry program
Job Offer –         Have offer a valid full time and permanent job offer from an Ontario employer

–         Have a median wage level or higher for that occupation in Ontario compensation at or above the Ontario median pay for that occupation.

·         Be in any of the below mentioned in National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER category 4 or 5

 

o   NOC 44101 – Home support workers, caregivers and related occupations

o   NOC 65202 – Meat cutters and fishmongers – retail and wholesale

o   NOC 75110 – Construction trades helpers and labourers

o   NOC 84120 – Specialized livestock workers and farm machinery operators

o   NOC 85100 – Livestock labourers

o   NOC 85101 – Harvesting labourers

o   NOC 85103 – Nursery and greenhouse labourers

o   NOC 94141 – Industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers and related workers

 

·         Be in any of the below mentioned in National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER category 4 or 5 and outside the Greater Toronto Area (City of Toronto, Durham, Halton, York and Peel regions) and must be in one of the following occupations:

o   NOC 94100 – Machine operators, mineral and metal processing

o   NOC 94105 – Metalworking and forging machine operators

o   NOC 94106 – Machining tool operators

o   NOC 94107 – Machine operators of other metal products

o   NOC 94110 – Chemical plant machine operators

o   NOC 94111 – Plastics processing machine operators

o   NOC 94124 – Woodworking machine operators

o   NOC 94132 – Industrial sewing machine operators

o   NOC 94140 – Process control and machine operators, food and beverage processing

o   NOC 94201 – Electronics assemblers, fabricators, inspectors and testers

o   NOC 94204 – Mechanical assemblers and inspectors

o   NOC 94213 – Industrial painters, coaters and metal finishing process operators

o   NOC 94219 – Other products assemblers, finishers and inspectors

o   NOC 95102 – Labourers in chemical products processing and utilities

Level of Education –         Obtained a degree or other certificate that is equivalent to at least a Canadian high school diploma or higher.
Work Experience In-Demand Occupation List
Min. 1 year in the last 3 Years-         Have cumulative amount of a minimum 1 Year of full-time job experience obtained within the previous 3 years.-         Obtained in Ontario and in the same in-demand NOC (National Occupational Classification) code as the job offered.-         Hold a valid license, certificate, or authorization to practice the profession in Ontario, issued by an eligible Ontario regulatory body, if job offered requires a license to practice in Ontario.
Language Proficiency –         Have demonstrate a minimum language competence score of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4 in either English or French.
Settlement Funds –         Meet the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) settlement funds requirement.

–         Can be proven through their own finances, or a valid job offer that meets the minimum settlement funds requirement, or a combination of both.

Intention to live in Ontario –         Intent to live in Ontario after they have granted permanent residence.

–         Intention to live in Ontario establish through employment, job offers, studying, visiting having property, professional connection, family ties, personal relationship.

Business Requirements ·         Business Requirements:

–         Have been in active business for minimum 3 years in Ontario.

–         Meet the gross annual revenue requirements for the most recently completed tax year:

o   Inside of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) – City of Toronto, Durham, Halton, York and Peel regions: Minimum of $1 million CAD., and employ at least 5 full-time employees, or

o   Outside GTA: Minimum of at least $500,000 CAD., and 3 full-time employees. 

·         Recruitment Requirements:

–         Demonstrate reasonable efforts to hire a Canadian for the position before offering it to foreign employees.

 Application Procedure

  • Eligible candidates submit an EOI through the OINP’s e-Filing Portal, where profiles are ranked based on points.
  • Highest-ranked candidates receive Invitations to Apply (ITA) during OINP draws. 
  • After receiving an ITA, applicants have 14 days to apply for provincial nomination. 
  • OINP reviews applications and notifies selected candidates via their ONe-Key account. 
  • Once approved, Ontario informs applicants through their ONe-Key account. 
  • Nominees complete a paper-based application for permanent residence and mail it to the appropriate center. 
  • Paper-based PNP applications typically take about 18 months to process.
